Migrate your data from Quickbooks to Geebooks (Click here)

Our story of launching Geebooks dates back to 2018. We were busy with Geedesk (our other product). We would raise invoices on a monthly basis and the customer would pay us in the next couple of days. With the introduction of GST we were obliged to file GST returns on a monthly basis.

We being a small business this led to a cash flow problem as not all invoices would not be paid in time for us to file the GST returns. For example if we raised 10 invoices not all those 10 invoices were paid in time for us to file GST. This led to cash flow problems especially when the invoice amounts were on the higher side.

When we discussed with our accountant the solution that he provided us was to issue proforma invoices to our customers and issue an invoice only when a payment was made. This solved our cash flow issues immediately, however it led to increased paperwork because we had to create the proforma invoices manually and neither Quickbooks nor ZohoBooks had the option to create proforma invoices.

So now we had to manually create the proforma invoice on spreadsheet, keep track of them to follow for payment and also to map it with respective invoices at a later date. Retrieving these manually created proforma invoices was a different nightmare.

As good software engineers we decided to scratch our own itch by building a simple web application to create and track proforma invoices. This tool was much liked by our friends and contacts and we happily allowed them to create and manage their proforma invoices.

One thing led to another and we began adding more features to this simple tool starting from creating invoices and in the next couple of months we had a full fledged software to manage our accounting. At the start of a financial year we cancelled all our subscriptions to other accounting softwares and migrated to Geebooks completely.

By March 2021 we and our friends had completed one financial year of using Geebooks. This is when we decided to launch it as a SaaS product.

We hope your business benefits from Geebooks.
